This is from Stephen Pierce’s podcast. Every week he puts out a podcast where he talks about new tools that he finds online that could help you with your business. All of the tools are usually free and some of them are more relevant than others, but here’s a redux from the podcast:

1) hotwords.com > what is the workd searching for? On this page, you can find information about what people are typing into the search engines and looking up.

2) tokoni.com > Life is full of stories, tell yours. This site has stories that people are telling about whatever is going on with them. Could be great for content generation, make sure you get the writer’s permission before you use their story in a product.

3) beta.twitscoop.com > tells you what’s hot on twitter. This is currently in beta, but the list of words tells you who is typing what on twitter and how many times the word comes up across the twitter network. This is currently in beta, so the results may be a bit unreliable, but it’s a good place to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening.

4) hotpluto.com > all video advertising marketplace. Upload videos and pics. look at how other people are using advertising. Good place to get ideas and is another place to put videos out on the web.

5) seonik.com > seo link generator, creates search engine friendly links to your site or to whatever site you’re promoting.

6) yieldbuild.com > tests different adsense layouts. Useful for getting better yield from the adsense ads that you are publishing across your sites.

7) sellitspeedy.com > fastest way to sell anything. They are trying to position themselves as an alternative to eBay and are claiming that they can sell whatever it is that you’re selling faster than eBay can.

That’s it for now. Please let me know if any of these sites help you out in anyway.

Cheers,

Rafael

OK, I bit the bullet and decided to sign up for some web 2.0 services out there. A bunch of people I know are on twitter, so I decided to join them and see what all the hubub is about.

I’m not impressed.

According to an article on Webomatica, this is the second time that twitter has gone down in as many weeks. Maybe, twitter is having some scaling issues, or maybe they are having some other issues with their servers and whatnot only twitter knows for sure. The thing is, I feel that if you’re going to have a big time service for people to use, then you need to have a big time server room to back it up.

Again, I don’t know why the twitter service went down today, all I know is that it went down and today was my first day using the service. It may turn out to be my last day using the service.

Apparently, some people are going to protest the outages by putting together a twit out, whereby no one twitters anything for a day. I don’t know how all that’s going to turn out.

In that Webomatica article, they talk about using something called “FriendFeed” as an alternative.

I went to go check it out, because I wanted to see what’s going on over there. FriendFeed’s gimmick, is that they are a lifestream aggregator.

What does that mean?

It means that they pull your feeds from Twitter, blogs, facebook, flikr, pretty much anything that has an RSS feed and they aggregate it all into one pipe. So, everything you do online can potentially be in one place. I think that’s both cool and frightening at the same time.

I don’t know that I like everyone seeing everything that I do in one place. For marketing purposes however, I think that it can have great value. It may even replace “the list” in importance since people will be able to instantly see whatever site you update with whatever offer you have.

Well, there you have it, a vision of the future. One in which we’re all interconnected thanks to RSS feeds and ubiquitous computing. The question remains, is it bad form to twitter that you’re not impressed with twitter? If you have no friends on the twitter network, does no one care that you’re twittering? If I decide to keep FriendFeed, do I have to call say that I’m “friendfeeding” instead of “twittering”?

Yep, I think that’s going to be the niche that I go down, for the most part anyway.

Primarily, I want to focus on ways that people with very little spending capital, such as myself, can get a leg up and actually make some money online.  It seems like every other plan to make money requires either a monthly subscription at $67-197 per month, or $400 worth of money to spend on adwords, or $5000 to spend for a one on one mentoring class.

I’ve looked around enough to know that none of those things are really necessary.  You can probably find all of the information that you need to launch your business for free, or for very little money.  All you have to do is look.  You will probably also need to read, watch, listen and learn as well, but isn’t that the case with anything worthwhile?

So, expect to see some posts about driving traffic to your site, some posts about some really inexpensive guides and books that I’m creating right now and possibly some other things down the line.

I’m going to refocus this blog.

I’m refocusing on the subject that I’m a broke guy trying to, actually, I’m making money online. I’ve sold articles to Associated Content, I’m getting clicks on my adsense ads, I am actually making some money, it’s just not enough.

Even a currency has a price, its exchange rate in currency markets. Its determination by supply and demand is an important issue in international trade.Image via Wikipedia

From today on, I will feature product reviews, news, tips and other items that may help you make more money than I am. Actually, I hope that you make enough to not have to worry about spending $50 to take your significant other out for dinner and a movie.

Do you know what I mean?

I know that’s not a lot of money to some people, but I also know that a lot of people would think really hard about spending that amount of money on anything “non-essential.”
What I’m hoping to do on here, is to offer you information that you will find valuable, and that you can and will apply in your existing business or as you get started with your online marketing efforts.

I’m not saying I’m going to make you rich.

Lord knows I’d love to make you and I both rich, but I think its more realistic that we can come up with a plan to make another $300-$500 worth of free money online. Then, rinse lather and repeat the process over and over again.

Are you interested in finding out what you need to do to improve your website’s performance?  Would you like to know what keyword you are really targeting, not just what keyword you think you’re targeting?

I ran something like this tool on this site yesterday and learned that I’m not doing a good job of staying on message.  The tool is free, in case I didn’t mention that.

Here’s the link:

Here are some other articles, in case you’re interested in something else.
